“Our family is very tight. Just like any family, we have our ups and downs, but the love is always going to be there. I try to go to my parents’ house as much as I can.” Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he is the younger brother of Tia and Tamera Mowry. He also has a brother, Tavior. His mother Darlene was the manager of her children’s careers and their father Timothy was in the U.S. Army and later was a jail with the Glendale Police Department when they moved to California.

His father is English and Irish and his mother Afro-Bahamian descent. His parents met in high school in Miami. His father jointed the U.S. Army and reached the rank of Sergeant. Tahj played varsity football at Westlake High School and also one season at Savannah State University and the University of Wyoming. He also attended Pepperdine University, where his sisters graduated from too.

“When it comes to acting, I've always had a passion for entertaining and for making people laugh. On the music side, I really want to come out as an artist because I want people to see who I really am... artistically, I tend to be drawn to the darker things. What the music will be able to do is show people that I am an adult now.”

He is best known as his role of T.J. “Teddy” Henderson, on Smart Guy. He also played Teddy on the sitcom Full House in the 1990s. He was a part of many Disney Channel moving including The Poof Point and Hounded. He had guest roles on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and also in one episode of Star Trek: Voyager and Desperate Housewives as well as The Game. He was in the film, Are We Done Yet? And Seventeen Again.  He performed the voice of Wage for Kim Possible, a Disney Channel animated series. He also was Tucker Dobbs in Baby Daddy, an ABC Family sitcom. He starred on an episode of Friends when Phoebe sang to kindergarten kids.

Music

He sang Shine Your Light on Me for School’s Out! Christmas as well as Circle of Life for the Disney Channel Circle of Stars recording of The Lion King. He was also featured on a single Kick it Out with Flo Rida and Boom Satellites. His debut single, Flirt, was released in April 2015. He released a six-song EP, Future Funk, in August 2015.

Homes

His 1921 home was featured on HGTV.  “The great thing about my home is all the character and details. Sometimes I’ll see something and think, I don’t look at this enough! The 2,000 square foot property has three bedrooms. Mowry was renting a loft before purchasing this home.

“The furniture in my old place was mostly colorful pieces that didn’t match,” says Tahj. “Once I became a homeowner, I wanted a more sophisticated look.” His charming home was first renovated by the previous owner. It has an open floor plan similar to his loft. He worked with designer Karan Brady to enhance the home’s character with industrial pieces and antiques. “My house style has matured, but it’s still fun,” says Tahj. “You better believe that coffee table gets rolled around on game nights!”

He enjoys the greenery outside of his living room the best. “It’s like living in a tree house,” he says. Many of the décor in the living room was found at local antique stores. The dining area has a reclaimed-oak table with a distressed walnut bench. He says that while the table is big, it doesn’t go unused as he sits at a different seat each night.

The kitchen has marble countertops, a large farmhouse sink and black cabinets. His bedroom features a custom wood bed with a tall headboard that matches the high ceilings of the room. His backyard has many entertaining spaces including a grassy lawn, a covered patio with paper lanterns and a dining area. “Sitting here makes me feel like I’m on vacation,” says Tahj.
