“I hate when the cameras are pointed at me.” Born in Fort Collins, Colorado, he is the son of entertainment agent Lisa Riley and EMT William Lloyd. He attended Carmel High School in Carmel Indiana and graduated there in 2007. He experienced bullying often in school. “My entire school life was really a living hell,” he later confessed. The kids at school took it so far that he couldn’t walk down the hall without someone making “the sound of a lightsaber every time they saw me,” he said. Desperate to put his Star Wars days behind him, Lloyd eventually “destroyed all of his Star Wars memorabilia” in a fit of anger.
Career
He began his acting career in 1996, playing the role of Jimmy Sweet in four episodes of the NBC series, ER. He was then cast in Unhook the Stars. His big break came in the holiday film, Jingle All the Way. He also was in Apollo 11. His worldwide fame however began when George Lucas chose him to play the young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace in 1999. This was the first film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. He received the Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Actor for this role. In 2000, he was in drama Madison and Die With Me. He then retired from acting. He decided that "life in the spotlight was much too stressful and permanently retired from acting."
After retiring, he kept making appearances at various comic book and sci-fi festivals. In 2012, he announced that he was directing a Tibetan refugees documentary. They were attempting to escape to India for safety. He was commissioned in 2012 to create a promo for a Mallory Low Song. He left Hollywood to move to Chicago. He went to Columbia College Chicago for one semester to study film and psychology before dropping out.
Personal Life
In 2015, he was arrested for reckless driving, resisting arrest and driving without a license. He has schizophrenia and had been using psychotrophic drugs. He also has a history of assault because of his alleged mental illness. After being kept in jail for 10 months, he was transferred to a psychiatric facility.
