“When I was young, I'd fight everyone who insisted I'd be an actress. I'd say, 'No way. I'm going to be a veterinarian. I'm going to work at Wetzel's Pretzels.” Born to two of the most well-known actors, Alec Baldwin & Kim Basinger, she was the result of a 10-year relationship between her parents. Their relationship first when they filmed The Marrying Man together. They got married in 1993 and had their only child, Ireland, in October 1995. She is the cousin of model/TV host, Hailey Baldwin.

She stayed out of the public eye growing up for the most part. Her parents separated in 2000, which was very public as they were fighting for custody of her. In 2002, the divorce was finalized and they were given joint custody over her. “Divorce is hard on a kid, no matter how you cut it,” she said. “And ours was very public and nasty. So I brought up Ireland in a very unconventional way. I just wanted her to be free. If she wanted to have her friends over and write over the walls with pen, that was fine. I wanted her childhood to be full of love and light and animals and friends,” her mother, Kim, said.

She has maintained a good relationship with her father since the divorce. She continued with school and later began a career in modeling.

Career

Baldwin admits that she never had a plan on modeling while she was growing up, s she didn’t know much about fashion. “I don’t want to be so famous that I can’t step outside of my house and not have the entire world talking about what sandwich I’m eating.”

She signed with IMG Models in 2013. She made her debut in a swimwear editorial for the New York Post. She has since appeared in W Magazine, Vanity Fair Magazine, DuJour Magazine and Elle. She made her acting debut in Grudge Match playing a younger version of her mother’s character, Sally.

She finished studying at the New York Film Academy in 2014 in cinematography and acting. She resigned from IMG Models to go to rehab and resigned with DT Model Management two months later. In 2017, she appeared in Guess and True Religion campaigns. She also was on the covers of Elle Bulgaria, Marie Claire Mexico and L’Officiel Ukraine. She was in the film Campus Caller as Macey Duncan too.

In 2018, she posed nude for a PETA ad for “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur.” This was 24 years after her mother posed for the same ad. In 2019, she was hired to DJ with Caroline D’Amore for the third anniversary of Norah restaurant. She also appeared in the Comedy Central Roast of her father, Alec.

 “There’s a lot of things I could do in my career and life that would have made me more successful than now, rolling with the cool kids,” she said. “I’m not dying to have a reality show or become famous. The best thing I can say to anyone that thinks they know me or that I have the thought in my head that I’m gonna run on my parents’ coattails to success is that I want to become my own person and I want to do it my own way.”

Personal Life

She had dated rapper Angel Haze and is currently dating musician Corey Harper. She revealed on Instagram that she was a victim of assault and was a survivor of the #metoo movement. She also revealed that at the same time she relied on substances to get by, which sabotaged her career at some point. She went to rehab and has remained sober since her stint in 2015. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
