“I like to get in the mud because I like to get dirty like a pig.” Born in McIntyre, Georgia, she’s the daughter of Mike Thompson (Sugar Bear) and June Shannon (Mama June). She has older sisters, Lauryn (Pumpkin), Anna (Chickadee), and Jessica (Chubbs).

Career

Thompson first was seen competing in beauty pageants on TLC television show, Toddlers & Tiara. She was 5. The show gave viewers the behind-the-scenes look at the world of pageantry. The show was created by Doug Mirabello and the cast included others such as Dawn Rochelle, Wendy D. Lee and MaKenzie Myers. She was a popular member of the cast and was seen on the show with her mother, Mama June. She aired in 36 episodes.

Alana and her mother received a spin-off called Here Comes Honey Boo on TLC. The show premiered on August 8, 2012 and ended on August 2014. The show revolved around Thompson and her family’s adventure in McIntryre Georgia.

The show was cancelled when it was confirmed that June, Alana’s mother was seen with a man who molested her oldest child. The man had been convicted of aggravated child molestation of an 8-year-old in 2004. Her oldest daughter confirmed that she is the child who was molested by him. She also was seen with a father to another of her children, whom are also a registered sex offender. An entire season’s worth of episodes went unaired following the cancellation of the show.

She also starred in guest appearances on Chelsea Lately, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Inside Edition, The Barbara Walters Summer Special, Live! With Kelly, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as well as the Steve Harvey Show. Alana was also a video question presenter for Millionaire by the Decade: The 2000s for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. She also was on Entertainment Tonight as her persona from 2014-2018 many times. In 2018, Alana was announced as a contestant on Dancing with the STARS: Juniors.

Alana collaborated with singer-songwriter Adam Barta in 2015 with her sister Pumpkin and released a song called Movin’ Up. The music video featured both June and Sugar Bear too.

Personal Life

Her mother and Mike (mentioned above) were on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars 4. Her mother launched her own reality series on We TV called Mama June: From Not to Hot, which starred Alana in 2017.

As of 2019, she rarely has contact with her mother after her crack cocaine arrest in March 2019. She lives with her 19-year-old sister, Pumpkin, who has obtained legal guardianship of her. They reportedly live at the Wind Creek Montgomery Resort & Casino.

She says of her recent family struggles: "Can we just be real for a second? Let me tell y’all how proud I am of myself!" she wrote. "I have honestly been [through] hell and back this year! And I'm still standing! I have been doing so good in school! And just being more happier! Let me just be the one to tell y’all if you are going through anything right now trust me it gets better you are worth it, I’m so proud of you, I can see you trying, I love you!"

Alana loves social media and texting her friends, spending time with her family and experimenting with makeup. She is worth about $500,000 and received $50,000 per episode starring on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Her money is in an account that her mother cannot access as the family has expressed concern that her mother may try to use the money for her drug or gambling addictions.

Alana and her mother have struggled with obesity. In 2015, Mama June underwent gastric sleeve and breast augmentation surgery.
