"When I was younger I didn't like the idea of having this name attached to me, this kind of 'Douglas Dynasty', stuff." Carys Zeta Douglas is the eldest daughter of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Still just 16-years-old, Carys is already developing her own name and brand recognition as a model. While still at school, Carys Zeta-Douglas is one of the few Hollywood children that seems unflinching in the face of early fame.
Famous Daughter Living in Hollywood Luxury
Carys Zeta-Jones is the eldest daughter of actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and actor Michael Douglas. Married since the year 2000, Douglas and Zeta-Jones have become one of Hollywood's most enduring couples. Along the way, the Hollywood family has gained two children via Carys and their son Dylan Michael. While both children are rapidly approaching adulthood, they have yet to truly branch out on their own.
Carys Zeta-Jones has gotten to enjoy being born into a hugely wealthy family. Her father has a net worth that hovers around $300 million while her mother is worth an additional $45 million. With so much wealth shared between her family, it shouldn't surprise anyone to learn that Carys has gotten to enjoy life in the lap of luxury.
Speaking of the lap of luxury, the Zeta-Jones-Douglas family was in the news as recently as September 2019 for their lavish expenditures in the real estate world. Catherine and Michael would go on to buy a $4.5 million mansion on a new home located in the suburbs of New York, Westchester County, to be specific. The riverfront home was built in the 1930s and is seated at the head of 12 rolling acres of land. The massive house itself spans more than 11,650 square feet from end to end. The home has eight bedrooms, a master suite, a French limestone fireplace for a feature, and a two-story library overlooking the nearby Hudson River. The house also features several entertaining sections such as an indoor pool, a private gym, and a special summer kitchen. Can you imagine young Carys Zeta-Douglas getting bored in the family home? We certainly can't!
While the Zeta-Jones family made headlines for buying a $4.5 million home, they made even more for their success selling their property. Ms. Zeta-Jones and Mr. Douglas recently sold their $11.25 million home for a cool price of $20.47 million this past year. This massive mansion was also situated in the suburbs of New York, Bedford Corners to be exact, and it was quite the exquisite property before they sold it. Zeta-Jones's Bedford Corners home was built in 1895 but had been completely renovated. With a pair of indoor pools, an outdoor pool, and eight bedrooms, you truly could get lost inside of the house.
Carys and her family are also looking to sell their $32 million estate located in Mallorca. Their Spanish home features more than 200 acres of property and is situated in the Balearic Islands. The home is still on the market at the time of this writing.
Born to Celebrity Royalty
Carys Zeta-Douglas was born on April 20, 2003, in Ridgewood, NJ. Carys was born into Hollywood royalty by way of her mother, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and her father, Michael Douglas. Michael Douglas has been a Hollywood mainstay since he first broke into the industry in 1966. Over the years, Michael Douglas has won a pair of Oscars while gaining pop-culture fame for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dr. Hank Pym. Catherine Zeta-Jones is also an Oscar-winning actress with notable roles in films like Chicago (2002), Traffic(2000), and The Mask of Zorro (1998).
Carys was raised in Los Angeles in order to stay close with her family while they worked through Hollywood. As the daughter of two famous movie stars, Carys was always on the road with her mother or father. While she had never explicitly planned to follow in their footsteps, Carys has begun to focus on life in the public spotlight. Still just 17-years-old, Carys has more to worry about in school than she does in Hollywood.
