Starting Young

Jones landed his first role when he was only five years of age. The film was Simpatico and it was released in 1999. Over the next few years, Jones took on supporting roles in a variety of popular films including The Rookie, George of the Jungle 2, Bringing Down the House, and See Spot Run. He also had a small part in the holiday movie, The Christmas Blessing. It didn't take long for the youngster to win an audience. Two and a Half Men

When casting calls were sent out for Two and a Half Men, Jones auditioned and was quickly chosen to play Jake Harper. He was the perfect balance between Jon Cryer's uncertain and sometimes confused role as his father and Charlie Sheen's wild and devil may care character. With an audience of well over 15 million people, Two and a Half Men was one of the most-watched sitcoms on television. Jones maintained his role for almost ten years and began to become disillusioned with the path his character was taking.

At one point, Jones' contract stipulated that he would be paid almost $300,000 per show for the final two years of his contract. This made him undoubtedly one of the highest-paid actors under the age of 18. After the contract was signed, Jones' character took on a more adult role. From smoking marijuana to being sexually active, the young star began to feel uncomfortable with the path his character was taking. Once he had turned 18, he began to speak out about the situation and eventually began to encourage his audience to not watch the show anymore.

In 2012, Jones began looking into various religions and spiritual paths. He began to speak openly about his faith and in November of 2012, he was baptized. It was after his baptism and dedication to his faith that Jones said he no longer wanted to be a part of Two and a Half Men. He claimed that the show and his religious views did not mix well and that he was uncomfortable with many of the adult-oriented storylines that his character was forced to play.

Although Jones had been associated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church during that time, the organization distanced itself from the situation by claiming that the pastor Jones was talking to at the time was not ordained by the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The pastor in question was Christopher Hudson who moderated the ForeRunner Chronicles, a religious channel on YouTube. It was through interviews with Hudson on the YouTube channel, that Jones had released many of the derogatory statements against the television show.

CBS eventually announced that the role of Jake Harper would be greatly reduced during the 11th season. He was eventually replaced on the show with a new character. Although he never returned to the series as a regular, he did make an appearance in the Season 12 finale.

Another Type of Business

After leaving Two and a Half Men, Jones enrolled in the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduation, he became part of the management for a multimedia and event production company. In 2016, he joined Kene Orijoke and Justin Combs as part of the staff of Tonite.

Charitable Endeavors

Over the span of his career, Jones offered his support to a variety of charitable causes. He was a firm supporter of the First Star Organization and worked alongside Val Kilmer, Dakota Fanning, and other famous actors and actresses in an attempt to raise awareness for abused and neglected children. In 2008, he made an appearance at the yearly Rock 'N Roll Fantasy Camp. He also joined in at events for St. Jude, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Be A Star anti-bullying alliance.
